After looking at the map where I had walked yesterday, I realised that I had missed part of Highcliff Road so that was my first stop today, walking 1km of Highcliff Road. Then it was back to Waverley to continue where I left off from yesterday. Today I walked 15 streets.
62. Belford Street
63. Ballantyne Street
64. Archibald Street
65. Kipling Street
66. Mannering Street
67. Mathieson Street
68. Scott Street
69. Gala Street
70. Marne Street
71. Glendevon Place
72. Tor Street
73. Danube Street
74. Glengyle Street
75. Cornwall Street
Again, today, there was quite a bit of up and down as I continued walking the streets on the hill. The streets are in a grid formation which meant that I had to walk part of a number of streets twice in order to get to a street I hadn't walked. I have also walked parts of Larnach Road but there is still more to do so I have not counted it as completed been yet.
It was great to get to the end of Belford Street as it gives good views over the streets that I have already walked in Shiel Hill. Seeing this view gave me a real sense of achievement, knowing that these streets have already completed.
It was nice to have a bit of flat ground on Marne Street to walk today plus the views of the inlet made the easy walk very enjoyable. This was a slightly different view from two days ago when I walked Somerville Street and had a view of the inlet from the playing fields.
After the relaxed pace of Marne Street, it was back up the hill on Larnach Road to walk Glendevon Place and the surrounding Streets. The houses on this side of the Larnach Road have good views of South Dunedin and the residents here can easily see if there is traffic congestion on Portsmouth Drive.
Today on my walk I had time to stop and look at the birds on the 'bird roost' in the inlet. The 'bird roost' is a small rocky man made islet just off Marne Street. I have often driven past this islet and did not realise that it was built in 2009 to give some of the 16 different species of birds that call the inlet home, a place to roost safe from people, dogs and cars.
Today I had a smile when I saw this 'no entry' sign. The hedge is a very big hedge and I love how it has been trimmed around the sign.
